Shipping Help

Canada Pack and Parcel ships packages to both domestic and international destinations. We want to ensure that every package you bring us gets to its destination safely and without delay. The following tips may be used as general guidelines for shipment in the following categories:

  1. Ground Shipment Packaging
  2. Express Shipment Packaging
  3. Domestic Shipments
  4. International Shipments
  5. Oversized Packages

Ground Packaging Tips back to top
  1. FedEx Ground accepts packages weighing up to 150 lbs (68 kg), and up to 165" (419 cm) in length plus girth.
  2. Due to its fully automated sorting facilities, FedEx Ground cannot accept any non-corrugated, soft packing.
  3. FedEx Ground does not deliver to P.O. boxes.
  4. Use sturdy boxes with flaps intact. Use double-wall boxes for heavier items.
  5. If reusing a box, make sure there are no holes, tears or corner dents.
  6. Remove all old bar code and address labels from recycled boxes before shipping.
  7. Cover sharp or protruding edges with taped corrugated panels or pads.
  8. Make sure your box is large enough to put adequate padding around contents.
  9. Common cushioning materials include: corrugated fiberboard, molded plastic material, loose "peanuts", densely packed shredded paper and bubble wrap.
  10. Use a minimum of 2 "- 3 " of packing material all around the item - more for fragile items.
  11. Use enough packing material so that the item does not shift or move during transit.
  12. If you're shipping many items in a box, wrap them separately and put sufficient packing material between them.

Express Packaging Tips back to top
  1. Packages must be larger than 7 " x 4 " x 2 " (17.78 cm x 10.16 cm x 5.08 cm).
  2. Centre contents in a sturdy box surrounded by cushioning (bubble wrap, "peanuts" or foam pads).
  3. Cushion fragile items inside one box, then put into a larger box with a layer of at least 2 " (5 cm) of cushioning material around and inside the inner box.
  4. Cover sharp or protruding edges with taped corrugated panels or pads.
  5. If contents may be damaged or soiled in transit, place them in a protective container.
  6. Do not exceed the weight specifications for your box.
  7. Do not wrap the outer box with paper.

Shippers Checklist - Domestic back to top
  1. Check Shipping Restrictions
Can you ship what you want where you want? Make sure your commodity is acceptable for shipment within Canada. Dangerous goods such as chemicals are generally not accepted by couriers.
  2. Package your Shipment Securely
Do not exceed the weight specification of the packaging you're using, or the weight limit of FedEx. Seal packages securely with 2 " (5.08 cm) wide, pressure-sensitive, plastic tape. Do not ship items loose in cartons. Use fillers for inside protection.
  3. Check Contact Information for both Sender and Recipient
Telephone and/or fax numbers are often the only way to notify recipients of their shipment. Include telephone and/or fax numbers for both you as the sender and the recipient on the address labels. Put labels on two sides of the package, and include another inside the package.
  4. Check Declared Value for Accuracy
Make sure the Declared Value you enter reflects an accurate value.
  5. Purchase Special Insurance for High Value Items
We recommend that you purchase special insurance from your insurance company when shipping your high value items.

Shippers Checklist - International back to top

Check Shipping Restrictions
Can you ship what you want where you want? Make sure your commodity is acceptable for shipment to the destination country.

  2. Check Contact Information for both Sender and Consignee
Telephone, telex, or fax numbers are often the only way to notify recipients of their shipment. Include telephone, telex or fax numbers for both you as the sender and the consignee on the address labels. Put labels on two sides of the package, and include another inside the package.
When shipping to international P.O. boxes, always be sure to include the recipient's phone number and fax number.
  3. Check Declared Value for Accuracy
The Declared Value, along with your description of the content, is used to determine duties and taxes. Make sure the Declared Value you enter for customs reflects an accurate value.
  4. Check Required Forms for Completeness and Consistency
Make sure you correctly and consistently complete all necessary forms as discrepancies can cause delays. These forms include a signed International Air Waybill, the primary shipping document for most international shipments. Other documents you need vary by shipment, and may include the Commercial Invoice and Shipper's Export Declaration.
  5. Check Content Descriptions for Accuracy and Legibility
List separately each commodity that you are shipping and provide a detailed and accurate description of each, including what it's made of and how it will be used. Be specific and consistent in your content descriptions on the Air Waybill, Commercial Invoice and other required documents.
  6. Legibly Print the Commodity's Country of Origin
Make sure you legibly print your commodity's country of origin.
  7. Purchase Special Insurance for High Value Items
We recommend that you purchase special insurance from your insurance company when shipping your high value items.

Oversized Packages

FedEx accepts ground packages weighing up to 150 lbs (68 kg), but all packages must have a combined length and girth of no more than 165" (419 cm).

Rate Calculations for Oversize Packages
The cost of your FedEx Ground shipments of Oversize Packages varies depending on the package weight. For more details on the cost of your Oversize Package, see the following list.

Unauthorized Packages
FedEx Ground accepts packages weighing up to 150 lbs. (68 kg) and measuring up to 165 inches (419 cm) in combined length and girth. Any package that exceeds these dimensions will be classified by FedEx Ground as an “unauthorized package.” Unauthorized packages may be refused or returned to the shipper, and will be delivered at the sole option of FedEx Ground. The shipping charges for an unauthorized package will be based on the greater of the package’s actual rounded weight or a 90-lb. (41 kg) minimum billable weight. In addition, a $40 surcharge will be applied for unauthorized packages as follows:

  • Any package measuring more than 108” (274 cm) in length.
  • Any package measuring more than 165” (419 cm) in length and girth combined.
  • Any package weighing more than 150 lbs. (68 kg).
  • Any package that shifts or expands during transit causing package dimensions to exceed limitations.
